Breguet Bre XIX B2

One of the most important european airplanes of the mid-war period, the Breguet Bre XIX consisted the main body of the Hellenic Air Force for a decade (1925-1935).

In 1925, the first 30 were aquired, while the delivery continued until 1928. The Bre XIX was a 2-seater reconnaissance (Á2 type)/ bombing (Â2 type) airplane, the first fully metal structured airplanes that came to Greece. In 1931, after the unification of the Air Force, a total of 41 Bre XIX were in service, equipped with different types of engines. Some of them were refitted for training purposes with dual controls. Their equipment included Gaumont/Demmaria Lappier photo cameras that remained in storage. The Bre XIX undertook missions at the early stages of WWII armed with 230lb or 30lb bombs in GPU type rails. They quickly retired from operations due to their age, as they were defenceless against the Italian interceptors.
