Ryan L-17B Navion

According to indications by various sources, the last 5 L-17B that were originaly constructed by the financing of the 1969 yearly budget for the U.S. Army, ended as American help to Greece.

As it appears from a letter from a subordinate of General Van Fleet, these airplanes were ment to be used for artillery observation. It was anticipated that 2 of them would bear American markings and used by american crew, while the Greek side would provide the technical support. That kind of use does not result from the Greek sources, where it is mentioned that they where used for staff officers transportation.

In records of this time, it was given the name "Air Taxi". The publicity of this type is indicated from the fact that it was used from 1948 to 1957.
