Former Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General StaffGeneral Georgios Avlonitis
General (Hellenic Air Force) Georgios Avlonitis was born in Athens Greece, on Jan 24 in 1950. He entered the Air Force Academy in 1969 and graduated in 1973, as 2nd Lieutenant flying officer. Gen. Georgios Avlonitis has commanded at squadron and wing levels and served in staff assignments at the major command level and in NATO. His assignments include a tour in the NATO HQ/IMS, in the Air Force and the Hellenic National Defence General Staff “HNDGS” as well as Director of C and E Branches at the HNDGS. He has served as Air Force Air Training Commander. Lt. Gen. Georgios Avlonitis has flown a grand total of more than 5200 hours principally in fighter and trainer aircraft.
