Former Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff

General Ioannis Giagkos

General Ioannis Giagkos is a Former Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff (HAFGS).

General Giagkos entered the Hellenic Air Force Academy in September 1970 and graduated in July 1974. He was Chief of Hellenic Tactical Air Force and Commander of CAOC7 before his last assignment as Chief of HAFGS. He has also served as Deputy Chief of Hellenic Air Force General Staff (HAFGS), Director of HTAF’s Operational Branch, Director of Plans and Operation HTAF, Staff Officer at SHAPE Plans and Policy, Staff Officer at Operational Planning HTAF and Staff Officer at Flight Safety Department. He has also commanded Fighter Squadron, and Tactical Fighter Wing.

As a command pilot, he has more than 4200 flight hours, 3000 of them in fighter jets (F-4E, F-16C/D).

General Giagkos is married and he has three children.
