131 Combat Group

Mission

The mission of the Unit is to maintain efficiency and readiness to a high standard with the appropriate organization, personnel training, and maintenance of the assets and systems provided for or redeployed in order to assume and successfully carry out Air Operations whenever required.

Organization

The unit is organized according to the typical Combat Group organization.

History

1958	Construction of the unit’s first installation.
1960	The first air detachment was established.
1974	The 131 Combat Group was formed with the 344 Fighter Bomber Squadron and F-84Fs aircraft.
1980	Operational and Administrative subordination of Ioannina Air Detachment to the Unit.
1981	Construction of the E-3A aircraft support facilities.
1985	Completion of the construction of the facilities
1986	E-3 aircraft begin operations in NATO missions.
