The Hellenic Air Force Academy (H.A.F.A.) made the annual educational journey of the 4th year cadets in Spain from 17th to 21st of June 2008. The purpose of the journey was the general education of the students in subjects of professional interest and cultural activities.
The group of the cadets was escorted by the Commandant of H.A.F.A., other officers and teachers. The transportation was made by two C-130 aircraft which landed in San Javier airport at Academia General del Aire. The group had a tour at the Academy facilities, was briefed by the deputy commandant of the academy about the daily schedule and the activities that the cadets of Academia General del Aire have at the duration of their study.
After having lunch the group departed to Torejon airport of Madrid and then to a city’s hotel. The daily schedule included various activities in relation with the Spanish culture. Deserves to be mentioned the experiences the cadets had the second day in their visit at the Museo del Prado were they had the chance to see by their own eyes original paintings from great artists such as El Greco, Goya etc.
On June 19th the group visited CASA industry. Students were ginen the privilege to see the construction line of the Eurofighter aircraft. Students also had the chance to see the construction of some parts of it. Equally important was the next day at Toledo, where the participants had the chance to visit one of the greatest cathedral churches and got in touch with the Spanish architecture and culture.
The group returned on June 21st at the Elefsina airport. All participants but especially the cadets gained new experiences and enjoyed the journey. Additionally the excellent attitude of everyone involved contributed to the image of the Hellenic Air Force.
