The Hellenic Air Force in the frame of ecological awareness, and out of respect towards the natural environment and the local population, cleaned up all training ammunition residues out of Schiza island Firing Range.
The cleaning up initiative, which was performed by the personnel of 120 Air Training Wing/Kalamata Air Base, lasted from Tuesday 2 till Wednesday 3 May 2012.
The bulk of the residues that weighs about nine tonnes, was transferred from Schiza island to Kalamata port and then to 120 Air Training Wing. All of the residues will be recycled.
