On Friday February 17th, 2017 the 5th Air Power Conference, with this year’s topic of discussion concerning “Air Power in a Contested Environment” and hosted at the “First Lieutenant Nikolaos Siamlas” amphitheater at the Aviator’s school at Dekaleas Air Force Base in Tatoi, was successfully completed.
Within the context of the topic at hand, the conference elaborated its discussion on issues related to the evolution of the Air Force, air missions involving cross-divisional participation, technology and its role for national security and other crucial air force matters.
The Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff (HNDGS), Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis (HN) gave the conference’s opening remarks, together with the Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff (HAFGS), Lt. General (A) Christos Christodoulou. Amongst the guest speakers were retired-Admiral James Stavridis (former SACEUR & Dean of The Fletcher School, Tufts University, Medford, USA), the Chief of the Spanish Air Force, the Deputy Chief of the UAE Air Force, the Commander of the Ramstein Aviation Headquarters, the Chief of the Hellenic Tactical Air Force (HTAF), Lt. General (A) Georgios Blioumis, the Deputy Commander of the Joint Air Power Competence Center (JAPCC) and the Commander of the German Tactical Air Force, among others.
Amongst those present at the conference were the HAF administration officials, honorable Chiefs, members of the academic community, Defense Attachés, delegates from allied countries and other staff of the Hellenic Armed Forces.
