The Greek Army (4th Infantry Regiment) acts counterattacks and recaptures Aydinio, which the Turks occupied on 17th of June after their surprise attack. The Turks, with their departure from the city, commit arson and massacre its inhabitants . Of the 7,500 inhabitants of the city and the 3,500 refugees in the surrounding villages, 6,500 were killed or abducted. During this operation, the Naval Air Force has been operating since June 18 with De Havilland D.H. 9 contributed to missions of recognition and bombing of enemy forces.
