Within the framework of the Greek participation in UNICOM (Congo), a cluster of 2 Dakota C-47 aircraft of the 355 Transit Squadron with 24 officers and non-commissioned officers, following a decision made by the Greek Government, took off from Elefsina Airport to Salisbury, South Rhodesia (arrival after two days). The goal of the mission, led by lieutenant Colonel Georgios Yalelis, was to transport the expatriates from the rebellious areas of Congo to other safe ones. Mission ended on July 31st, 1960.
