First Test Flight of the Supermarine Spitfire MJ755 Aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force

On Sunday 19 January 2020, the Supermarine Spitfire MJ755 aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force, took off from the Biggin Hill Airport of Great Britain, for its first test flight in 67 years, which was a total success.

The Vice-President and Legal Representative of the foundation “IKAROS”, Dimitrios Kolias attended the event, along with the veteran pilot of the Royal Air Force of Great Britain George Dunn DFC, who was the one that handed over the aircraft to Greece in February 1947.

As it is well known, the “IKAROS” foundation has fully undertaken the funding of the reconstruction and the return to flyable state of the aircraft.

On Tuesday 28 January 2020, the Chief of Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Lieutenant General (P) Georgios Mplioumis, received in his office the Vice-President of the foundation “IKAROS”, where they addressed the progress of the reconstruction of Spitfire MJ-755, while also discussing the future of all the Historical Hellenic Aircrafts.
