On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, the swearing-in ceremony of the new Second Lieutenants of the Hellenic Air Force (HAF) took place at HAF’s Academy, Dekelia Air Base, Tatoi, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Odysseas Konstantinopoulos as the representative of the President of the Hellenic Parliament, the Deputy Minister of National Defense and representative of the Government, Mr. Ioannis Kefalogiannis, Mr. Evangelos Apostolakis as the representative of the Major Opposition, the President of the Spartans Parliamentary Group, Mr. Vasileios Stigas, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis, the Metropolitan of Ilion, Acharnes and Petroupolis, Mr. Athenagoras, the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Eleftherios Kataras HN, the Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff (HAFGS), Lieutenant General (P) Demosthenes Grigoriadis, the Assistant Chief of Staff of the Hellenic Police Headquarters, Major General Christos Manouras as the representative of the Chief of Hellenic Police, the First Deputy Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard, Vice Admiral Drosos Reizis, as the representative of the Chief of the Coast Guard, the Head of the Administrative Support Branch of the Fire Brigade, Major General Demosthenes Ragkavas, as the representative of the Chief of the Fire Brigade, honorary Chiefs of the HAFGS and the Air Tactics Command, representatives of foreign state embassies, senior officers of the HAF, delegations of officers and of the Armed Forces and Security Forces, members of Retired Officers Associations, and relatives of the new Second Lieutenants.
A total of 72 Second Lieutenants were sworn in, including 61 from Greece, 8 from Cyprus, 2 from Jordan, and 1 from Montenegro.
