The first flight of Ag-Cat prototype was in May 27th, 1957 and entered in production by Schweizer under contract from Grumman. The first deliveries made in 1957 and until the end of 1987, 2280 Ag-Cats were build. The model that served in 359 Public Services Air Support Unit (359 MAEDY) was the Super Ag-Cat, equipped with a 525hp, Pratt & Whitney R-1340 engine. With a max speed of 275 kph, used in aerial spraying at first and in fire-fighting missions later. They were de-commisioned from service in 2011.
