The Hellenic Air Force’s demand for a light bombing airplane was finally satisfied with the delivery of 42 Helldiver bombers from the U.S. in spring 1949. They equipped the 336 Squadron and were used in the last great battles of the Civil War (August 1949). They were gradually retired after 1953, upon the arrival of the jets, but some were used as reconnaissance airplanes until 1957.
