The first F-84F Thunderstreak were received by the Air Force in 1957, replacing the F-84G. They formed the backbone of HAF’s strike force for many years, the last being retired from active duty in 1983. Apart from the initial deliveries, additional planes were acquired during the 60s and 70s,from the USAF, the Luftwaffe and the Royal Netherlands Air Force. The aircraft wore three variants bearing: unpainted (bare metal) for the initial airframes, “NATO” camouflage in the period 1964-1970 and “Vietnam” camouflage between 1971 and 1983.
