During the greek counter offensive in Albania, that followed the Italian invasion in Greece in October 28th, 1940, a slightly damaged S.M. 79 was captured in Koritsa airfield in November 22nd, 1940. It was promptly repaired by Air Force’s engineers and put to service, mainly as a transporter.
