Major General Dimitrios Hatzigeorgiou

Major General Dimitrios Hatzigeorgiou (MD) is the Director of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff (HNDGS) Medical Directorate.

He is the consultant to the Chief of the HNDGS providing expert advice in planning and health policy support to the Hellenic Armed Forces as well as to State Health Agencies, if required. He coordinates and directs, at both national and international levels, the Health Directorates of the General Staff in matters of health care and health support.

He was born in Larissa.

Education

He joined the Hellenic Military Academy of Combat Support Officers in 1975 and graduated in 1981 as 2^nd Lieutenant.

He graduated from:

• Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki Medical School
• Aviation Medical School with training in the Hypobaric Chamber
• Flight and Ground Safety School

He holds the specialty of Internal Medicine and the subspecialty of Infectious Diseases
