Mission

The 363 Air Training Squadron’s mission is to implement Advanced and Operational Phase of Flight Training Program of Hellenic Air Force’s 1st Lieutenant Officers pilots.

  • Advanced Phase III: The aim of this phase is pilots to create and improve their skills in a highly demanding environment with a jet, as well as the complete development of aviation consciousness.
  • Operational Phase IV: The aim of this phase is pilots to create and improve their skills, fly abilities, situation awareness and behavior in basic principles, procedures and maneuvers that come from planning and choosing suitable tactics and weapons for air operations.

History

In January 1972, 8th 361 Air Training Flock was established in Larisa Air Base. The Flock’s mission was the advanced training of fourth years’ Hellenic Air Forces’ Air Cadets with F-84F aircraft. The training was implemented with T-33MK3 and later on with T-33A aircraft, when F-84F stopped being operational.

In September 1974, 361 Air Training Flock was renamed as 363 Operational Training Squadron and continued to implement its training mission with T-33A aircraft located in 110 Combat Wing.

On April 1977, 30th the 49th Flying Class was the last beyond all previous series, that trained with T-33A aircraft.

In May 1977, 9th the Squadron was equipped by T-2E Buckeye Aircraft and relocated in 120 Air Training Wing.

In March 2006 was renamed to 363 Air Training Squadron.
