Mission
The Air Training Defence Staff Center’s mission is to provide:
- Theoretical and practical training in Air Defence to Hellenic Air Force’s Staff for the purpose of training and specialization
- Theoretical and practical training in Air Traffic Control to Hellenic Air Force’s Staff and recruited soldiers for the purpose of training and specialization
- Training to Hellenic Air Force Academy’s and Hellenic Air Force NCO Academy’s Cadets in Air Defence
- Theoretical and practical training in programming of Air Defence Computer Systems to Hellenic Air Force’s Staff with Air Defence specialization
- Training in “Basic Knowledge in Air Defence” to Hellenic Air Force’s personnel with Air Defence specialization
- Theoretical Training in Air Defence to Officers of all three Branches of the Armed Forces
History
Until 1979 the Air Defence Schools were splitted into various Units of the Hellenic Air Force (128 Telecommunication and Electronics Training Group, 2nd Control Area Center etc.). For that reason it was decided to gather and organize them as a united Air Defence Training Defence Staff Center, in Dekelia Air Base. It started its testing operation in June 1981 and it became fully operational on February 1983, 25th.
