Mission
The UAVS Squadron’s Mission is to maintain a high level of readiness and effectiveness, in order to conduct successful intelligence surveillance reconnaissance, in day and night, whenever needed in accordance with current plans. It is achieved by the appropriate organization, training of personnel and maintenance of the available means and systems.
History
The UAVS Squadron is the first Squadron of Unmanned Aircraft System in the Hellenic Air Force.
Firstly, it was established as Flock, by the decision of the Supreme Air Force Council. The location of the Flock was 131 Combat Group and the Pegasus I was used as UAV.
In May 2005 the construction of Pegasus II started, aiming on an integrated Medium Altitude Long Endurance UAV.
In September 2005 the modification of the first UAV completed and its certification flight tests were conducted with excellent results.
In July 2006 the modification project of all UAVs and Control Centers was accomplished.
Since 2007, UAVs participates in “Iniochos” and “Dourios Ippos” Exercises.
In December 2008 the Flock was reorganized as Aircraft Combat Squadron and named as UAVS Squadron.
On August 2017, 14th, UAVS Squadron was relocated from Aktion Air Detachment to 110CW in Larisa Air Base. The Squadron was placed at 346 Squadron’s facilities until its suspension.
