Mission
The 6th Control and Report Post’s mission is to maintain a high level of effectiveness and readiness, through the proper organization of its staff and the maintenance of its assets of the systems that are at its disposal, in order to contribute at the implementation of Aeronautics Control of Air Control Centre (ACC) – Recognized Picture Production Centre (RPC) – Sensor Fusion Post (SFP) mission, according to the responsibilities assigned.
History
In 1967 the Mikonos Aeronautics Contingent was constituted and equipped with TPS -1D and TPS-10D RADARS.
From 1973 to 1975 it was decommissioned.
In 1975 RADARS were replaced by the new improved TPS-43 Radars and the Unit was renamed as 10th Mikonos Station.
In 1982 was renamed as 6th Control and Report Post.
In 1995 RADAR AN/TPS-43A UPGRADE infrastructure works started and in 1996 the new RADAR AN/TPS-70 was installed, which started being operational in 1998.
In 2004 the new 3D RADAR was installed.
