Mission

The 8th Control and Report Post’s mission is to maintain a high level of effectiveness and readiness, through the proper organization of its staff and the maintenance of its assets of the systems that are at its disposal, in order  to contribute at the implementation of Air Control Centre (ACC) – Recognized Picture Production Centre (RPC) – Sensor Fusion Post (SFP) mission, according to the responsibilities assigned.

History

Unit’s constitution started in 1966 started being operational in 1967, using Research Type AN/TPS-1E RADAR and AN/TPS- 10D  height RADAR, named as 3rd Control and Warning Squadron.

In 1971 considering the alliance, Unit was evaluated by NATO teams and was deemed as operationally efficient.

In 1975 the old type RADARs were replaced by new improved AN/FPS-37 and AN/FPS-6 RADARs, while the Unit was renamed as 5th Control and Report Post.

In 1982 it was renamed as 8th Control and Report Post.

In 2000 a 3D RADAR AR-327 was installed.
