Mission

The mission of Chrisoupoli Air Force Detachment is to maintain efficiency and readiness to a high standard with the appropriate organization, personnel training, and maintenance of the assets and systems provided for or redeployed in order to assume and successfully carry out Air Operations whenever required.

History

In 1947 the Kavala Airport in Amygdaleon was built and operated with funding from the “Marshall Plan”. The Unit was located in the Airport as Kavala Air Detachment.

In 1985 the construction of the new Airport in Chrisoupoli started and in 1997 the relocation of the Air Detachment took place. In the same year, the Unit took the current form and named as Chrisoupoli Air Force Detachment, while maintaining the administrative and operational control of Amygdaleon Airport.
